Callie was our first standard smooth dachshund.  She came from the Nieburs as a puppy and is the love of my life and the matriarch of my house.  She was born in January 7, 1995 and earned her DC with no problems. However... she was too smart to earn her second leg of her Junior Earthdog.  She knows if she looks long enough she will find the latch to let that rat out.  "Why be an idiot trying to tear the cage apart?"  

     Callie is the mother of Heart who was out of my first litter of smoothes. She had to live with longhairs until Gema (DC Kibby's Gem of Idaho) came to live with us. Callie was very happy to see Gema. I have come to the conclusion that smoothes and longs are really not the same breed, they play and work differently.  They also prefer to play with their own kind.
