Vacation Stories

What I did on my summer vacation...
as told by Becky Clegg
We just returned from a week of camping with Obie & Elizabeth in our Airstream at Challis Hot Springs. What a lovely time of year to be camping there. It was so beautiful and relaxing.Anyway, "imagine if you will" a serene scene of mountains, hot springs, and gentle breezes blowing. Obie is sitting with me in the campsite area enjoying the solitude and I'm reading a book while Ken and Liz are having a walk around the premises.
We see very close to us a spike deer grazing lazily on the grass in the nearby campsite (no people camping of course). Suddenly the deer goes on alert and turns to run and jump a nearby fence. Then I see Liz break out of the bushes on a full out run after the deer and following behind her is my husband running like crazy. Quite a comical scene.
At first I thought Liz had broken her lead but thankfully Ken was just running to give her a chance to see what this new creature was. Needless to say, Liz was fired up about deer in our camp and on constant alert. She also saw three wild cats that kept tormenting our campsite. She hates cats. Liz is truly a keen hunter. Her nose and field sense is amazing.
Obie was just happy to be camping with his people and hanging out on my lap as usual. We all had a grand time. Thought I'd share a picture of Liz and me at Red Fish Lake and also Obie & Liz with me. What a gorgeous place. Enjoy your week ahead.

Another vacation story....
as told by Charlene Shuping
My sisters, Sasha and Gwynn, the Dane, and I keep careful watch over that tree. We run into the house and tell if we see a squirrel. If we don't actually see something our brother Bandit, the Dane, rats on us. He's really accurate about seeing squirrels and not just barking at the wind.
Dad has a pellet rifle and it's been such fun when we get to have a squirrel fall from the sky! Usually one of the Danes gets it first, but Sasha and I steal it and take off running. One on one end, one on the other. One time we ran into the house, right onto Dad's recliner!
Mom said some bad words when she was getting squirrel blood off the floor, carpet and Dad's recliner. She puts the X-pen in the kitchen now to stop us. I learned to climb the tree too! They make me so mad I rip bark off with my teeth.
How many Sausage Dogs can do that? Well, need to get outside and check out the tree.
Nuts to you,
Tree climbing Doxies and a Dane!
